We are delighted to share with you A Peek At Motherhood featuring Elizabeth Kartchner also known as Dear Lizzy or Liz from elizabethkartchner.com. I have a little confession to make…about 4 years ago when I was first discovering what blogs even were I came across Dear Lizzy… and have been inspired by her ever since! It’s an honor to be able to share with you a little bit about her as she is one inspiring mama! We had a lot of fun putting this photo shoot together with Heather Telford our talented photographer. A special thanks to peek kids, see kai run, ribbies clippies, and hello hi for providing the darling apparel and accessories for Liz’s three darling girls!
A peek into Liz’s life:
Q= You have a wonderful husband, 3 darling girls, a baby on the way, Dear Lizzy scrapbook line, published just a few books, a very well known personal blog , and Liz’s Paper Party a new blog you just launched…please tell us how you do it all?
A=I definitely do not do it all… or try to do it all. There’s usually a pile of laundry needing to be put away, or a sink full of dishes to wash. But I think it’s about priorities… first and foremost I am a mother and a wife. When I put that first, and they know they are most important in my life, then other things I need to do fall easier into place. There are times when I definitely get overwhelmed and by the end of the day I’m exhausted, so I learn to limit what I do. Having a supportive husband makes the additional things I do possible… it also helps to have some of my husband’s favorite treats on hand for bribery.
Q= With february being the month of love share with us your insights on…as huey lewis would say “the power of (a mother’s) love?
A= A mother’s love is the most powerful and influential part of a child’s life. Yes, I am known to exaggerate but I don’t think I am putting too much emphasis on the role of a mother. Sometimes we may not think what we do is substantial… wiping noses, singing lullabies, or endless cleaning. But I do know that there’s a reason why a simple kiss from mommy on an “owie” makes it all better. That’s probably why the world tries to distract mothers from our attention to our children. I can feel that pull from various directions but it’s so important to not get consumed in it all. I don’t want to miss my chance to teach and show my children the way.
Q= What inspires you?
A= Everyday photography, music, color, shapes, fashion, laughing & being with people I love.
Q= What are 3 things we may not know about you?
A= 1. My husband, Collin, was my first date in high school. He asked me to the Homecoming Dance. When he was driving me home after our date he came to a complete stop at a green light. I think he was a little nervous.
2. I took a Darkroom class in college and dream of having my own darkroom someday so I could spend the day taking pictures with my film camera then develop the pictures later that day. It’s such a cool and dreamy process… with lots of stinky chemicals.
3. If I could be anywhere at this moment it would be at a secluded beach somewhere in a hammock, pina colada in hand, painted toe nails with my feet in the sand, sound of kids playing in the distance, sun on my face… I could go on and on.
Q= If there is 1 thing you have learned and could share to inspire and help other women/mothers what would it be?
A= Sheesh, I feel like I am still learning so much as a woman/mother… but something that I am striving to do is not to compare myself to others. A couple years ago I had a quote on my inspiration board, “Find you. Be you. Be happy with that.” I loved it because at times I feel myself trying to fit into another mold or trying to be like someone else. But I need to focus on what I do best and my natural gifts that can bless others’ lives. I mean I don’t know anyone else who can eat a bag of Peanut M&M’s as fast as I can. That’s something I need to embrace and be proud of! 😉
Thank you Liz for inspiring us and all of those around you! Hop on over and check out some of Liz’s amazing talent! Here at Dear Lizzy…

There is no greater gift than the gift of motherhood. It makes me want to be a better person so I can guide in the way I’m meant to!
Patience I tend to think is the power of a mothers love. If we have the ablility to take the time to engage in the process of raising our little ones, it makes room to set the foundation firmly in their hearts to know that they are loved. They learn that they do matter.
@candice elliott so true thanks so much for sharing! xx
The power of the mothers love is second to none! There is no greater feeling in the world than to be loved by your mother and offering love to your children as well! gr8dehne at gmail dot com

Oh gosh, a mother’s love is endless. I never knew I could love three little ones equally and so much. It’s like your heart grows. There are bad times, but the good time out weigh them by infinity. I love being a mom so much. It’s fun, it’s crazy and I think it’s my calling. Thanks for the fab giveaway. Love Liz. She’s the best.

A mother’s love for her children is unconditional and sets the foundation of security in her children. I now know this extends to her grand and great grand children. Lizzy is a wonderful role model for my youngest daughter who is 24 and expecting her second baby. We enjoy following Liz and her beautiful daughters. And impatiently waiting for her Lucky Charm collection for scrapbooking our family pictures.
God giving me the gift to be a mom, is the best gift I could get. A mothers love is an amazing thing that I have learned from my mother and now understand how much she truly loves me and not only me but she has taught me how to love my children. We need to cherish our children everyday and never take a day for granted.
I’ve learned that the power of a mother’s love is not just the strength and love you are filled with for your children. I realized that this love is also the ability to love those in your life and the things around you more than you ever imagined possible from that very moment of the birth of your children.
I’m a mom to three, but MY momma’s love for me still has a huge impact in my life. I love my mom and strive to be like her in many ways.
The power of a mohter’s love needs to be unconditional love … ALWAYS!!!
Nothing compares to the power of a mothers love. It’s the most challenging yet most rewarding job on the planet. I’m blessed with 2 sweet boys and they make my world so much brighter.
I always knew that when I had children of my own that I would love them with all my heart. However, a mother’s love is so great and grand that you become selfless and you would do anything to keep your children safe. Showering them with love is the greatest thing. I feel as though with each child I have, I grow an extra heart. It truly is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never fully understood the power of a mother’s love until I had my sweet little baby M. It’s amazing how I love her so much that I’d do anything for her. She is only one year old and has changed me forever. Love her. Love being a mother1
A mothers love is a gift that I cherish. I want my children to know and FFEL how fiercely I love them and that I would do anything for them.
I always thought that a mother’s love was overrated, based on my own mom’s delusional overprotective traits, or so my teenage self think. Until, I become a mom myself. There, is one unconditional love you’d never know its source and never truly know what it’s capable of doing. Until now I’m still amaze and bewilder by my own love to my daughter! And it’s one of my biggest weakness too, having lost a baby only at his 3 weeks of life, I think my mother’s love instinct is torturing me to this time.

A Mothers Love is eternal and perfect. While I may not be either of those things yet, I look forward to the time when I can love with all my heart!
Thanks for the reminder that what we do as moms matters. My mom was the greatest influence on my life and I miss her everyday. I love Liz’s thoughts on not comparing yourself to others. Such a trap!
An inspiring article and stunning photography! I loves the quote “Find you. Be you. Be happy with that.” I needed to remember that today, knowing who we are helps us be better mothers, I love motherhood and people who inspire me:)
I’m grateful I had the time to read this today. A mother’s love is as close to heaven as we can get I think. Even when I’m struggling with my girls, my love never goes away. I think a close second is a child’s love. They are perfect in so many ways. Thanks for the happy message.
Thank you for a great read! It gave me warm fuzzies all over. I don’t know that you could put into words the power of a mother’s love. I do know that I am the person that I am today because I have an amazing mother (and father too for that matter) and that she taught me that being a mohteer is the most important job in the world. Your children always come first, and if they don’t feel that they are your top prioroity then you’re doing something wrong. My children are the best thing I have ever done and they inspire me to be someone that they choose to be around, that they love, and htat inspires them.
It’s amazing how much we can love our kids, and how we multiply that love with each new babe!

I have two sweet girls, and hope to be able to give them the same love my mom gave me. Being a mom is a hard job!
I have a quote next to my bed by Elizabeth Stone that says, “Making the decision to have a child – it is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. ” As a mom to my 2 little lovies, I could not agree more. Thanks for the chance to win!
It’s amazing what having kids will do to you… good & bad… mostly good!
So glad you did this feature so I could find you. Thank you!
I have been blessed with four beautiful children. It amazes me that someone trusts me enough to bless me with my children to raise. My full time job is being a wife and a mother. I absolutely love my job. I love to run a forgotten show and tell to school:) I learned so much from my mother and only hope that I can show that same love to my children!!

This mother’s love will survive returning to work from maternity leave in just two weeks. It’s killing me, and like Liz said, I can feel myself being pulled in so many directions, and I just need to stay focused on this family I’ve been blessed with!
The gift of motherhood truly is an amazing gift. I am a mother of 3, one adopted and 2 biological and it is such a blessed experience!

Being a mom is the best job ever. Even though its hard and tough but very fun. Thanks for a chance for winning a awesome prize.
I think my true power comes in seeing past the bad mood or the outburst to find out what is happening with one of my three children to work through the source not the reaction. Sounds very serious but it works great with good and negative reactions 🙂 They know that no matter what it is I won’t be too harsh, we’ll discuss what is happening and either celebrate, talk it through or pray about what needs to come next. All of the yields lots and lots of pure love back and forth!
