As soon as we spotted Good Boy Friday, we knew we had to share it today in our new Friday Find series…where we plan to feature some of our favorite finds. We are in love with this brand for a couple of reasons,
#1. It was created specifically for boys, however the mama’s are loving it so much they buy some of the pieces for their girls. Specifically the twill polka dot shorts…seriously to die for!
#2. The creator and founder Kelle Bachour… is an inspiring mompranuer. We are so impressed with her creative momprenuer spirit. Here are the details from our mini-interview.
Kellee’s little boy modeling Good Boy Friday, the Lou Pant, and vintage inspired short overalls with tee in their Pant Suit.
The Interview:
Q=What Inspired you to start GBF?
My son refused to wear tailored pants because the interior adjustment hurt and opted instead to wear sweatpants everyday – that just wouldn’t do so I created an exterior adjustable waist in a slim leg and lots of colors! It started with that simple Idea.
Q= My momma says…what is one thing you learned from your mother?
To sew!!
Q=With starting your new brand/business…how has social media helped in building your brand?
Especially with Instagram, I have a huge community of friends and support – I mean, we see each other and our kids daily 🙂
Q= You talked about mistakes what are some of the things you have learned…advice for those wanting to start a new business?
I wanted to start small but that doesn’t actually work because buyers want choices. On some collections I produced too much, others not enough. Mistakes add up to a lot of $$, so I approach mistakes as a investment in education – it hurts less. For those who want to start their own company: trust that it will happen if it’s suppose to.
Q= Tell us 3 things we may not know about you?
I am so inspired and supportive of mompreneurs that I started a local group! We meet once a month and invite speakers or just enjoy nibbles + bubbles and networking 🙂
I have a sweet, snugly, hand-holding mama’s boy and I created GBF to celebrate the lovely connection.
I love putting boys in color!! We’re definitely known for colorful twill pants and shorts
All our clothes are made in the SF Bay Area – my husband bakes, and we regularly deliver 10 dozen or so cookies to our seamstresses, in thanks for their amazing sewing!
My background is marketing, not clothing design so I’m learning as I go – I’ve made lots of mistakes!!
I am OBSESSED with decorating my house with up-cycled, rusty, white, flea market and thrift store finds – I have a particular obsession with pink pyrex and random signs (see picture)
Buyers can find our clothes at the California Market Center in LA and World Trade Center in Dallas – and in New York soon! Or online at Good Boy Friday.
Thanks so much Kellee for sharing a bit about you and your inspiring journey! We love your innovation and the way you started GBF…finding a simple solution for your little boys waist band problem. Genious! We look forward to watching your continued success!
