Does 2015 find you gearing up for the arrival of your first little one, or simply craving a fun update for your nursery or big kid space?  With new products for kiddos hitting the market every day, it can be a bit overwhelming sifting through all those social media feeds and blogs looking for just the right thing.  We know that narrowing it down can be tough, so we’ve done the work for you. We surfed, hemmed, hawed and debated, but we managed to narrow down all that kids + baby goodness into Destination Nursery’s Top 10 Design Trends for 2015!

.Wood & Wicker – Natural elements are where it’s at this year for rounding out the perfect nursery. Think wicker, rattan and bamboo featured in cribs, ottomans, lighting and more! We love the warm and natural feel this trend brings to any kid’s space.1Photo Sources: left // right

.Desert Modern – 2014 saw the rise of the tribal trend, and although tribal isn’t officially out, the shift to the modern Navajo/Southwest vibe is definitely what’s in for 2015. Think blankets, rugs, proofs and other little touches. This is not a  “do the whole room” kind of thing, it’s the little touches that will go along way with this hot trend.  Keep your eye on the cactus, too. We think he may be popping up a lot soon!2 Photo Source

.Natural Geometric- Geometric Shapes are by no means a new design trend for 2015, but expect to see them cropping up in new places like floors and ceilings. The trend is shifting to take on a more organic fee and closely imitating the shapes found in nature. We see this trend continuing to gain in popularity for the nursery in 2015 so get creative with it and make it interesting!3Photo Source

.The Gallery Wall- It’s been around before, but this time it’s more sophisticated with framed art and 3 dimensional pieces rounding out the cast of characters. We love this trend and it’s modern classic vibe.4Photo Source: Left // Right

.Neutral Wall Colors – While these may never be totally out, we’re still seeing gorgeous neutral walls and Dusty pastel paint colors that are surely inspired by our design savvy Scandinavian friends. Coral and turquoise walls have had their moment, but in 2015, expect to see more of the softer and more neutral paint colors.

.Mix and Match – furniture, bedding, layered rugs, you name it and it’s not matching. We’re big fans of this trend because it makes designing an on trend nursery much more affordable when you can mix-and-match new pieces with pieces that you may already have. Curated is the name of the game with this eclectic trend, so be picky about what comes in, but chances are if you like it, it will go together!

.Colors for Cribs & Baby Beds – 2014 saw black and green baby furniture hit the scene hard, but now in addition to that, expect to see all shades ranging from charcoal grey to bright candy colored pinks and blues.7Photo Source: Left // Right

.Plants & Planters – Anyone that has ever actually had a baby that can crawl or toddle knows that putting potted plants anywhere near a baby is a bad idea. But, think smaller here. We love the trend of small potted plants and succulents on dressers and shelves in baby’s room! Not only is it super Feng Shui to have plants in the nursery, it’s just plain old good for the air. Les can be more here (Think one or two small planters) and be sure to keep them in a place where little fingers can’t reach!

.Batman – Not the Marvel Comics Batman, but Batman inspired dolls, toys, art and decor are definitely sweeping the nursery scene right now. It’s super hot and we love that this adorable trend gives us a great opportunity to cross over what ittle boys love with what mom’s love. Win-Win trend Alert!9 Photo Source: Left // Right

10. Floor to Ceiling Interest- we quite possibly could have saved the best for last!  We’ve been seeing fun ceilings for a while now, but this floor to ceiling look has us grinning ear to ear and is a great trend for small or unusually shaped spaces. We are all in on this one!10
