We are excited to share another question in our series, “Source this” Destination Nursery I have a question …it’s from Amanda in Wisconsin. Amanda just recently had a sweet baby boy, and she really wants to create a special space for him. She has a black crib but will need everything else! So today we answer Amanda’s design question (see below) + share our favorite finds to help her create that perfect vintage modern style nursery! Here’s what Amanda wrote to us:
Dear Destination Nursery,
I recently had my second child and I couldn’t be more in love with my adorable little son! I really want to create a special haven for him but have put off finishing his nursery because I worked full time right up until he was born. Now that I’m on maternity leave, I am trying to gather a few special things for his room but I feel like a lot of the cute stuff I am seeing is geared more towards little girls. Can you help me pull together some fun pieces that will be sweet but still perfect for my little boy? We have a black crib and not much else.
Thanks!

Dear Amanda,
Congratulations on your precious new arrival! We are so excited because there is so much cute decor/accessories available now for little boys…so fear not, we have you covered!
We LOVE black cribs and that’s the perfect place to start! Black and white nurseries are definitely carrying over into 2015, but layers and textures are where it’s at for creating that perfectly sweet but boyish nursery this winter. Try adding touches of pale blues, grays and creams to the palette with cozy bedding and chunky blankets to add interest and dimension. Touches of muted reds and oranges keep it playful while staying stylish. Add a soft area rug to the floor for tummy time and tons of snuggles (The Heirloom Bear Blanket makes a perfect and affordable mini rug for a nursery!) Finally, mix it up and balance modern with rustic pieces. A few artisan looking touches (like a globe and an adorable Maileg doll combined with a timeless Eames style rocker in a saturated hue will work together to create a perfectly curated and adorable nursery for your baby boy!
We wish you ALL the best!

Hi Destination Nursery,
I am two weeks into my third trimester with my first child. A little boy 💙
I am reaching out because I am so overwhelmed at the thought of choosing pieces for the nursery. So far we have painted an accent wall and have a natural wood crib from Babyletto that was gifted to us. I know I want a rocker as gliders make me motion sick but other than that I am at a bit of a loss. I want to keep the nursery more streamlined and neutral while my husband would like it to look for child like and colorful. If you are up for the challenge of blending our two styles I would love some help!
