The only thing better than homemade salsa in my opinion…would be this mesquite smoked salsa fire roasted on your  Traeger Grill! Oh my goodness this salsa topped any salsa we have ever made…and we are a salsa n’ chips loving family that eats a lot of chips and salsa!  We introduce salsa early, literally from the time each one of our kids starts eating solid foods. 🙂

I can’t get over how easy this restaurant style salsa was to make…next time I plan to try this in another smoky flavor…maybe hickory, oak, or maple, this can be done easily by changing up the type of wood pellets used while smoking it on your  Traeger Grill.   See details below for how we made our mesquite smoked salsa!

One bite of this salsa and you will be hooked! Enjoy! xo

Prep for the grill/smoker…

2-3 Roma tomatoes cut in half

1/2 of a medium sized onion

1-2 jalapeños  depending on how spicy you like your salsa…the first time I did two and they must have been spicy ones cause that was a little too much…so next time I will try 1 and go up from there.

Place on your Traeger Grill or smoker… Smoke it for about 20 minutes then turn up the heat to 300 degreess and grill for 5 minutes.  ( we used a mix of mesquite and apple wood pellets)

Once grilled place in fridge for a few minutes to cool them down…after they are cooled

then place all grilled items in blender

add…

1 bunch of Cilantro…

3-4 teaspoons of minced garlic

1 can of stewed chopped tomatoes (our favorite one is the western family petite diced with sweet onion)

juice of 1/2 lime

2 tsp Honey (optional)

1-2 teaspoons of CUMIN or 4-5 good shakes

a pinch or two or rock sea salt

then pulse a few times till the desired consistency…we like ours chunky…

Serve with your favorite tortilla chips and ENJOY!
